The Carnegie Art Gallery and the Amajuba Chess Association hosted the Workshop Game on Friday, November 23 to bridge the gap between the two activities.

Gallery Curator Phumzile Dlamini said the aim of the workshop was to encourage persons interested in learning about chess and visual art, to participate.

“The aim of the integration process was to stimulate the brain of children for them to be able to express their inner selves to the external world through both art and chess.”

The children were also treated to a tour around the gallery to learn the importance of visual art. After the tour the children competed in social games of chess.
