Tree of Lights: Shining a light on memories at Estcourt Hospice

“Some special memories and moments were shared by all,” said Estcourt Hospice Association’s Clinical Manager Rena Licen when describing this year’s Tree of Lights ceremony.

This annual remembrance ceremony was held at Hospice House in Beechwood Road on Friday evening. The purpose of this event is to remember loved ones who have died and also to reflect on the work that Hospice has done in the past year.

The annual Tree of Lights ceremony has a good turnout.

Chairman Anil Sookraj welcomed everyone before Secretary Sulochana Naidoo read an inspiring poem. A message of hope was delivered by Father Khumalo, who encouraged remembering loved ones who have died.

Enjoying refreshments after the ceremony.

Pam Venter and Khumi played two songs before Arnold Zonneveld switched on the lights.

“We had a lovely turnout for our Tree of Lights ceremony this year. There were even a few patients that joined us this year. Thank you from all of us at Hospice. May you all have a blessed holiday season,” added Mrs Licen.

Locals settle in for the annual remembrance ceremony.

The ceremony concluded with refreshments in the training room.
