Protest action blocks Wasbank/Elandslaagte route to Ladysmith

Motorists are advised to proceed with extreme caution when travelling towards Ladysmith this morning.

The road between Wasbank and Elandslaagte in the area known as Nkunzi  (about 2km pass the Marie Ratchitz church turn off ) has been blocked by burning tyres and rocks as protest action flared up.

The protest started late yesterday afternoon. It is understood from locals in the area that the protest was sparked by a lack of water in the area.

Some motorists have had to turn around and travel through Dannhauser to get past the blocked areas. Another alternative route to the N11, is via the Sunset Rest road from Dundee and Glencoe.
