A lot of people get hyped up during festive season, therefore prior safety precautions need to be taken

Criminals always try their luck during the festive time, as most people are loaded with money, hence it is everyone’s responsibility to make sure that the culprits do not get an opportunity. A lot of people get hyped up during the festive season, therefore prior safety precautions need to be taken.

Here is a list of precautions to keep you safe:

DO

Do: Drive safely. Follow the rules of the road.

Do: Always have your cell-phone in your pocket in case you are involved in an accident.

Do: Drink alcohol responsibly.

Do: Make sure all your windows are closed and doors locked, with some lights on, before you leave your house.

Do: Avoid displaying your furniture through windows and undrawn curtains.

Do: Be extra careful when driving alone at night.

Do: Check your wheels before travelling to avoid tyre punctures which may cause accidents.

Do: Avoid carrying a lot of cash. Rather leave it in your card and swipe when you need something.

Do: Always check your surroundings, as criminals are all over.

Do: Beware of strangers trying to offer you help with anything, either be it at the ATM or help you carry your luggage.

Do: Keep children next to you everywhere you go.

DON’T

Don’t: Exceed speed limit on the road.

Don’t: Drink and get drunk while you are far away from home, as this might put your life at risk by causing accidents if you are driving or your might be raped or killed if you are walking.

Don’t: Go out for drinks with strangers; you might find yourself trapped.

Don’t: Tell everybody if you are going away, as criminals might target your house to break in.

Don’t: Leave your drinks unattended, as they might be spiked.

Don’t: Drink too much if you are still going to drive.

Don’t: Show strangers every corner of your house.

Don’t: Leave children unattended on the streets or in the mall.
