Storm wreaks havoc in Ekuvukeni over the festive season

Residents of Ekuvukeni were hit hard during the festive season, going into the new year, with a massive storm that destroyed everything in its path.
The storm ravaged the area on December 22, destroying homes, power cables, trees and even a school.
Recalling the incident, residents say that initially the rain came down lightly and in a matter of minutes, it changed into a vicious storm.

Residents said that most of their belongings were damaged, including clothing and children’s school uniforms.
They say they have been hit hard at a crucial time of the year and are now seeking shelter at other houses in the neighbourhood and under event tents.
