Mvelase family host a Christmas party with a twist

The Mvelase family decided to invite 15 disadvantaged learners from Riverdale Primary School in Rensburgdrift to share a special day with them.

As Isaac and Phumzile Mvelase celebrated their retirement, they also hosted a Christmas party and cousins reunion at their home in Roy Mcfie Road.

The family is passionate about giving back and making a difference in the community. Mr Mvelase arranged with Mrs Gamede, an educator at the school, to have two caregivers attend the get-together with the children.

The family provided transport and had the children dropped off at their home on December 27.The children got to play with Mr Mvelase’s grandchildren during a gaming session, which followed after an opening prayer, speech and toast.

This was not a first for the family, 10 years ago to commemorate Mr Mvelase’s 55th birthday, they hosted children from Ekuphileni Community Care Centre.

With big smiles and the sound of laughter echoing through the yard, the children jumped away on a jumping castle when Father Christmas visited and distributed gifts.

A yummy meal was served to all and the rest of the day was enjoyed playing various games. The day will forever be etched in the hearts of those children.
