UPDATE: Community kill two after spate of burglaries

Community take matters into their own hands

Two men have died from injuries sustained at the hands of community members, after they were caught breaking into a house in the Croydon Farm area, Sibongile.

The duo were part of a gang of four men, believed to be responsible for numerous thefts in the area.

Community members shot one and beat up another member of the gang, after they were caught attempting to break into a home on January 9.

Sophie “Gadu” Khulu (26) was shot and later died of his injuries in hospital last Wednesday.

When police arrived on scene, they recovered several items, believed to have been stolen.

Two other gang members fled the scene but the body of Jabulani Phakamani Mabaso (22) was found in the veld in the area after his sister had reported him missing. He had sustained multiple injuries.

At this stage police have made no arrests.
