It is believed the woman recorded the incident on January 8 and sent it to the child’s father in an attempt for him to stay in a relationship with her.

After receiving the video, the father of the child immediately contacted  the police who referred him to the Newcastle family violence, child protection and sexual offences unit (FCS).

Due to the graphic nature of the video we could not disclose details of it at this time as the matter is under investigation.

Captain Nagesh Moothilal of the FCS Unit, who has viewed both disturbing videos says it utterly despicable.

“The mother appeared at the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court and was granted bail,” says Cpt Ncube.

He also confirmed the incident took place in Ncandu Park.

“We would like to let the community know that child abuse will not be tolerated and perpetrators will pay the price. We also commend the father for reporting the incident and encourage members of the community to bring such incidence to the attention of the police,” encourages Cpt Ncube.

Police confirm the child is currently kept at a place of safety.
