Did you know your blood can saves lives?

The first blood donor clinic at Forderville Primary School Hall for 2019 will be held on February 3 from 10am

Did you know that the one unit of blood you donate can save up to three lives? If you are a blood donor, it could literally mean giving someone the ultimate – the gift of life.

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) continually needs to assist patients in hospitals and ensure that supplies of blood are available to patients in need.

In many cases, keeping these people on the road to recovery means receiving a gift of blood from a total stranger. This giving is the essence of the SANBS’s newly launched ‘Gaz’lam’ campaign.

It is derived from the Zulu word for ‘blood relative’ or ‘brotherhood’ and to join the Gaz’lam brotherhood doesn’t require much.

All it requires is the willingness to give up 30 minutes of your time and visit a SANBS branch near you every 56 days.

The SANBS is honoured that on a daily basis it is saving lives. The organisation remains grateful to all blood donors who, selflessly and without praise or compensation, donate life to so many fellow South Africans.

Who can donate blood?
• You must be 16 years or older.
• You must weigh 50 kilograms or more.
