Farewell function for retired principal of Dr Joseph Shabalala Secondary School
Mr Masinga has been a role model to young and old alike

A function was held at Mt View Lodge for retired school principal Mr GS Masinga on Friday morning, January 25.
Mr Masinga was the principal of Dr Joseph Shabalala Secondary School from 1998 up until he retired last year.
He is well-known to the community and educators alike as a result of a close working relationship.
Mr Masinga was an educator at the school in 1996 and became principal in 1998, serving the school admirably for over 20 years until he finally retired at the end of September last year.
The children adored him, saying he was always willing to help and always took time out of his busy schedule to assist a child if they had any problems. He has been a role model to young and old.

Mr Masinga says he decided to retire so he can spend more time with his family and loved ones, and is planning a trip with them overseas in the near future. The school hosted the farewell function, where those present enjoyed a scrumptious meal and shared a ‘lifetime’ of memories.
Joseph Shabalala from Ladysmith Black Mambazo, whom the school is named after, was also present to show his support and love.
“Being a principal was challenging but also rewarding, as I had a dynamic staff and parents whom I had a very good relationship with,” he says.
The staff and management of Dr Joseph Shabalala Secondary School would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Mr Masinga for being a role model to many of them.
Here’s wishing Mr Masinga a happy retirement and all the best in the future.
