About 150 children were removed from Môrester Children’s Home in Ladysmith this afternoon (February 15).
The whereabouts of the #Môrester150 is being kept a secret by the Department of Social Development.
The children were removed after claims of abuse at the home.
KZN Social Development spokesperson Ncumisa Ndelu said that, “The department received very disturbing information, including allegations of abuse at Môrester Children’s Home.”

She added that, in the interests of child protection, the department decided to investigate the allegations and to remove the children while the investigation is underway.
The children were seen with their bags packed and being put into department vehicles to be taken away to an undisclosed location.
Police were also at the scene, at Môrester Children’s Home.
