“Ward 3 belongs to ANC” – Senzo Mchunu claims
Mr Mchunu outlined reasons why Ward 3 residents should vote for Mathula Mbazo Nkosi as their new Ward councillor.
Sithembile residents sang songs of welcome when Senzo Mchunu, former KZN Premier, and now ANC executive committee member and chairperson of the party’s organising and campaign committee for the 2019 national elections, came to address them on Friday.
A by-election is also on the cards for Ward 3 following the IFP sacking Thabani Molotshwe.
Mr Mchunu outlined reasons why Ward 3 residents should vote for Mathula Mbazo Nkosi as their new Ward councillor. He explained: “The African National Congress has done a lot for South Africans, therefore, voting for the ANC is unquestionable. First and foremost the party has built RDP houses for many underprivileged South Africans.

“We have provided free education in most of our local schools. We have provided students with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) for those students whose parents combined annual household income is more than R350 000 per annum. The ANC has provided most households in rural areas with clean water and electricity. Old age social grants are the same across all racial groups when the party introduced social grants in 1998.

“There is still a lot to be done in South Africa as well as in this Ward. We are aware as a party that we have had our own shortfalls that is why we are busy with the state of capture inquiry and all those involved will be bought to book.”
Mr Mchunu advised Ward 3 candidate, Mathula Nkosi, to ensure he is a voice for Sithembile, should he win the March 6 election.
“Do not sit back otherwise they will not include Sithembile in the municipal budget.”
Mr Nkosi promised not to fail Sithembile residents as the previous councillors have. He told supporters that: “Ward 3 belongs to the ANC and we
will fight tooth and nail to get it back. There is a lot of work to be done in our area and together with the community we can take Sithembile to greater heights.”
