Severe thunderstorm warning for Ladysmith and surrounding areas

Motorists are urged to be vigilant on the roads

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms this afternoon (March 18), going into this evening. Thunderstorms are predicted in the Uthukela District, Zululand, Amajuba, Umzinyathi, Harry Gwala and uMgungundlovu.

Heavy downpours and strong winds are predicted.

Inclement weather conditions have already started in Ladysmith.

Motorists are urged to be vigilant and to drive with their headlights on, while keeping a safe following distance.

If there is flash flooding, people need to stay away from rivers and avoid crossing rivers.
