N3 southbound lane opened, clean-up on the northbound after truck torching

Protestors have been dispersed and a clean-up is continuing on the northbound lane

Official word from emergency services is that the southbound lane of the N3 in Hidcote is open.

A clean-up of the northbound lane is ensuing as a large amount of soda ash that was being carried by one of the truck is strewn across the highway.

It is estimated that the clean-up could take about two hours.

Motorists using the northbound lane are being diverted at Mooi River, into Hidcote and onto the N3.

Police have dispersed the protestors and remain on high alert. It is estimated that seven trucks were torched after 1am this morning allegedly by disgruntled truck drivers.
