Wet weekend weather brings on multiple collisions with injuries

Wet weather experienced during the weekend has resulted in a number of collisions.

A bakkie overturned on Saturday morning (April 6) near Vryheid, on the R34 between Bloodriver and Utrecht.

Emergency services responded to the scene and found four patients that had sustained injury.

“Three of the patients sustained serious injuries and necessitated dispatch of the Newcastle ambulance services. All patients were stabilised and taken to hospital for further care.”

In a separate incident later in the day, a head-on collision between a bus and motor car occurred on the oSizweni Road.

“One critical patient and two others with serious injuries were transported to Madadeni Provincial Hospital.”

The critical patient was entrapped and extricated by the Fire Department.
