UPDATE: Death toll rises to 3 after hospital transport bus crashes near Ladysmith
One person lost their life and 26 others were injured this morning (April 15) in a crash on the R600 between Ladysmith and Winterton.
It is believed that a patient transport bus travelling from Winterton to a hospital in Ladysmith veered down an embankment and crashed.
Sadly, one person was declared dead at the scene, with two people sustaining serious injuries.
Paramedics and members of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife worked tirelessly to bring up the patients from the bottom of the embankment.
Traffic flow in the area was delayed until the scene was cleared.
The bus had to be towed away.
