Clean-up operations underway after truck torched near Mooi River

2 trucks were set alight near Frere and Mooi River

Another spate of trucks being burnt on the N3 was reported during the past 24 hours.

According to information from Midway RTI, one truck was torched on the N3 northbound near the Frere intersection at about 11.30am yesterday (June 1).

The driver was uninjured.

The second incident was reported at 2.10am today (June 2).

A truck was set alight on the N3 southbound near the Mooi River Toll Plaza.

The driver fled the scene.

Clean-up operations are underway, with police on scene.

Unconfirmed reports of trucks being torched along other parts of the N3, including Pietermaritzburg and Cato Ridge, have surfaced.

It is speculated that these incidents are linked to previous protests by truck drivers who are against the employment of foreign drivers.
