Tractor donated to women-running a farming cooperative
The main objective of their visit was to donate a tractor to the value of about R 1. 1 million to a farming cooperative

On Wednesday (May 29) the Dr Bahle Foundation, together with organisation founder Dr Bahle Zondo, visited an area in Ladysmith called iLenge.
The main objective of their visit was to donate a tractor to the value of about R 1. 1 million to a farming cooperative.
“In July last year, women of this community protested over job opportunities, saying that some women should be retrenched from their work so that others also get an opportunity to work. That did not sit well with me, so I organised a meeting with these women.

A point that arose during the meeting was that many of them wanted to venture into farming. We decided it was a good idea and have not looked back since. A co-operative was initiated with the assistance of Phumokwakhe, who helped with the registration. I am very proud of them,” said Dr Zondo.
Dr Zondo added more tractors are yet to come for this cooperation. He also said the community was filled with excitement at the handover, as they feel their community is progressing and no longer protesting over jobs.
