Nathi believes his gym techniques offer a personal experience to clients.
Power, speed, agility, coordination, strength and flexibility are incorporated in the level of fitness, which qualified fitness guru, Nathi Ngcobo, epitomises.
Being in the fitness industry for more than 25 years, Nathi has gained invaluable experience both locally and in cities around South Africa.
The 47-year-old has both brawn and brains. He studied towards a bachelor of science degree after matriculating in 1992.
“While studying at university, I took up the position of a gym instructor,” he shared.
Nathi revealed this was the moment his passion for fitness was stimulated.
He later worked at fitness clubs as a sales consultant, and was promoted to a sales manager and ultimately a fitness instructor.
“The company I worked at was soon liquidated, and the personnel and I were moved to Johannesburg to work there.”
In 2005 Nathi came back to Newcastle and was employed at a fitness gym until June 2018.
During his time Nathi qualified as a fitness coach, personal trainer, aqua-aerobics instructor, indoor cycle trainer as well as a strength and conditioning coach.
Having acquired such a vast portfolio knowledge in the fitness industry, Nathi identified the need a for a functional fitness gym in Newcastle, which prompted him to establish such a facility under his ownership.
What is a functional gym and how does it differ from other gyms?
A functional gym gets you physically prepared for life, with the added benefit of strengthening muscles, increasing body flexibility and preventing injury by strengthening the body overall.
Nathi believes his gym techniques offer a personal experience to clients.
“Our group sessions are not just about the numbers, we aim to build a community around fitness and believe in member retention.
“I know each of our members by name. I even know their spouses and family lifestyle. It is important to connect with people. Getting and staying fit is not a one size fits all formula,” he advised.
Why is fitness important for both young and old?
“Fitness promotes a long life. You don’t have to be fit to start exercising. My motto is to encourage consistency,” he concluded.
