3 people sustained injuries in the crash
A police officer and another person have been killed in a crash on the N11 just outside Ladysmith near the Driefontein turn-off.
The exact cause of the crash is unknown at this stage.
It is believed that a Toyota Hilux bakkie and a Kia collided while heading out of Ladysmith in the direction of Newcastle.
The driver of the Kia said he was travelling to Dundee when he heard a loud bang at the back of his vehicle.

Three people were injured in the crash and were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
The roadway will be closed while police conduct an investigation.
Police, RTI, emergency personnel and towing services responded to the scene.
