New commander for Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch

As patrol commander and coordinator, Terblanche will be at the proverbial helm of the ship, steering his patrol members in the right direction at all times, and will be required to respond to emergency calls at all times. It is a monumental task and responsibility, but thankfully he will not face the challenge alone.

John C Maxwell said, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”

These words may have been what led Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch’s patrolling members, to elect Jacques Terblanche as their new patrol commander.

Following the recent resignation of former commander, Imtiaz Sahib, an emergency patrollers’ meeting was called, to elect a new leader to take his place and – most likely due to his dedication to the ideals and principles of neighbourhood watch and his commitment to patrolling duties – Terblanche was elected.

They believe he is the right man for a job which requires unwavering commitment and understanding of the need for community safety.

It is a monumental task and responsibility, but thankfully he will not face the challenge alone.

Duncan Rudolph has been elected as the ‘2IC’ or ‘second in command’, and will fill a very important role as a pillar of support for the newly elected patrol commander.

“As Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch, we would like to thank Imtiaz Sahib for his dedication, during his tenure as patrol commander,” stated watch chairman, André Rheder. “We wish him well in his future endeavours and thank him for his service.”

Upon his election, Terblanche expressed his gratitude to his peers: “Thank you all for your faith in me. I will do my utmost to uphold the values and ethics of Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch, to fulfill my duties as your patrol commander and carry that title with pride.”
