SAPS reports spike in gate motor theft

Residents are urged to clad their gate motors in a steel cage, to prevent them being stolen.

SAPS officials warn residents, who have motorised gates at their homes or business premises, to take extra security precautions. This comes after a spike in gate motor theft, which has seen 14 motors stolen in recent weeks.

The latest theft was reported at Ethangeni School on Friday. The stolen motor is valued at around R6 000.

Estate agents have suggested the gate motors be secured in steel cages to curb theft, and Dundee SAPS says no arrests have been made in connection with these incidents.
