“A single shot was fired at the 31-year-old shop owner by one of the suspects. Fortunately, the bullet missed him,” commented police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi.

Three suspects, one armed with a firearm, then forced the two men into the shop.

“The shop owner was instructed to hand over an undisclosed amount of cash, which was kept inside the shop. The suspects proceeded to the shelves and took boxes of cigarettes and airtime worth about R30,000. They left the unharmed victims inside the shop,” added Captain Nyathi.

Estcourt police are now investigating a case of business robbery.  Anyone with information that could help trace the suspects is urged to call 036-342-9525. Alternatively Crime Stop can be contacted on 08600-10111.
