The day warmed up beautifully, making for excellent playing conditions.

It was all about cancer awareness at Dundee Bowling Club this past Saturday, as the 14th edition of the Slabbert / Arndt Competition got underway in crisp winter conditions.
A total of 22 pairs teams from Volksrust, Vryheid, Newcastle, Ncandu and Dundee took to the greens.
The day warmed up beautifully, making for excellent playing conditions. At the end of the day’s play, which was made up of two games of 12 ends and one of 15, it was mum and son Michelle and Douglas Steele who took third place.
Locals Rita Meyer and Jacques Bierbaum were second, with one of the day’s sponsors, Dougie and Essie Slabbert, taking the trophy!
A huge thanks to all of those who entered. To the sponsors, Carl and Hannelie Arndt and Dougie and Essie Slabbert, many thanks! The club looks forward to hosting you all again next year!
