Among the burnt embers and plastic bags, Mr Majola found items that point to people living on the street. He says that residents in the area believe that homeless people are taking refuge in the gutters but at the same time, leaving behind a mess.
“The family called the local municipality to report this mess about three weeks ago but nothing was done, so I was called. I was disappointed to the area. I wondered what people in this town are paying rates for,” said Mr Majola.
Adding that the municipality employs full-time staff to keep the town clean, Mr Majola said that basic service delivery was expected.
“I reported this matter to the relevant officials, even the Director but nobody cares,” he added.
These concerns have been forwarded to Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality for a response.
