Arts, culture and sport are all the rage at New Republic School

"We are immensely proud of our choir," said school representatives.

NRS learners had the school beaming with pride, as they took to the national stage.

Quaid Crous finished fifth in his race.

The choir went to Bloemfontein to take on the final of ATKV-Applous competition, singing in front of 10 of South Africa’s best choral adjudicators. It missed the gold by 0,7 per cent, with a score of 79.3 per cent.

“We are immensely proud of our choir,” said school representatives.

The NRS choir performs at the Sand Du Plessis Theatre.

Dancing: On July 25, Samantha Lewarne took on the Eisteddfod’s dancing competition. She received a gold award for ballet, double gold for hip hop dance and gold for contemporary dance. “Well done Sammy, we are super proud of you.”

Ayathaba Nyandeni finished fifth in his race.

Cross country: NRS athletes went to Piet Retief to participate in a cross country event. The athletes did the school very proud, with Mhlengi Sibisi clinching first place in the five kilometre run and Emile Jiyane also taking first place in his race. Kylie Hartslief, Quaid Crous and Ayathaba Nyandeni all finished fifth in their respective races.
Important dates: August 2 – NRS 7s rugby tournament.
