Dundee-Ladysmith road closed near Wasbank

Motorists are advised to avoid the R602 Wasbank road, which is virtually inaccessible due to rocks on the roadway.

The road linking Dundee and Ladysmith – the R602 – is closed again this morning near Wasbank.

For most of last night, the route was inaccessible to motorists due to rocks placed upon the road surface. Drivers are advised to instead detour onto the Sunset Rest route (R68), which has been declared safe for use.

It is understood the protest stems from the residents’ frustration over a lack of water and other services in the area.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
