Local IFP proportional representation councillor shot and killed last night

Shock has gripped locals after a fatal shooting broke out last night (August 16). Emergency Services were alerted at about 8pm.

It has been confirmed that Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) proportional representation councillor, Mthembeni Majola died in a hail of bullets.

This all unfolded in the vicinity of the Estcourt Hospital along the R103. Local police and traffic officers responded to the scene.

A senior official in the regional IFP structure confirmed the death of his comrade. Provincial leadership is set to visit Mr Majola’s residence to offer their condolences later today.

It is alleged that two other people were injured during the volatile situation. Details about the shooting are still sketchy at the moment but updates will follow.
