The team fell under the leadership of Speaker Phindile Strydom, who was joined by Councillor Mpembe, Councillor Msibi and Mrs Mkhize from the Health Department.

This awareness programme materialised after the municipality was notified about people who are drinking untreated water from a nearby river.
Gugu Mbense outlined the aims of the awareness campaign to the community. The attendees were informed about a variety of waterborne diseases and how to go about treating these diseases.
Most importantly, the community was told about ways to treat water from rivers and springs before consumption. It was said that diseases such as diarrhoea, cholera, and bilharzia can be prevented. Personal hygiene was also mentioned as being important to practice to keep diseases at bay.
Cllr Strydom discouraged people from practicing ancient myths for their own well-being. She then informed the community about the core functions rendered by the district municipality, before handing out health and hygiene packs.
All the stakeholders who were part of the campaign, which included presentations by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) and the Labour Department, were thanked.
