A celebration of culture, heritage and tradition

Learners, parents and community members enjoyed a day of celebrating their heritage and culture and sharing experiences.

Residents donned their very best traditional outfits for a Heritage Imbizo, held at Meridian Newcastle Independent School in Madadeni on September 14.

The country celebrates Heritage Month from September 1 to 30 every year.

During the month, South Africans are encouraged to embrace and share their cultures and diversities.

Heritage Day itself is celebrated on September 24, all around the country.

It was a hive of activity at the school, with various live traditional orchestrated entertainment, competitions and food and market stalls.

Learners, parents and community members enjoyed a day of celebrating their heritage and culture and sharing experiences.

The Government has also called on all South Africans to use Heritage Month to create greater social cohesion, nation building and a shared national identity, under the theme, Celebrating South Africa’s literary classics in the year of indigenous languages.
