Dundee High School’s Kemeshen Govender set off to Namibia recently, to represent South Africa in the SASSAC angling tournament. It proved to be quite a challenge from him at first, being the youngest in the South African team coupled with harsh conditions and foreign waters, but two practice days helped him prepare.
South Africa claimed the win on each day of three-day tournament. The Namibian team proved itself to be a tough rival but by the end of the tournament, Kemeshen, his teammate and the rest of the SA representatives placed first on points through superior catch weight and total fish caught.
Kemeshen certainly represented his country and his school well. He finished eight out of the SASACC anglers and the Namibian teams, and it was a great experience for this proud DHS learner.
“Well done, Kemeshen!” said school representatives.
