Inspired by the need to educate children on the importance of growing one’s own food, Risen Son Academy has established a vegetable garden at the school.
This project was completed through the assistance of the Working on Fire team.
“We want to teach children how to grow veggies for their own use,” explained Principal, Henrietta Barry.
“We would also like to use this as a way of passing on the blessing to some of the parents of our learners who are in need, and to provide fresh produce for our hostel children. We would like to encourage healthy eating at a young age, so that our learners develop good eating habits and flourish into healthy young adults, who are mindful of what they put into their bodies.”
The Working on Fire team said it was happy to assist and visited the school, tools in hand, to dig the vegetable beds and turn the soil so that seeds could be planted.
“We would like to thank the Working on Fire team for its hard work and assistance in helping us to make this project a reality,” concluded Barry.
