Desperate plea for service delivery goes unanswered

Seventh Avenue resident seeks assistance to curb the domestic waste that is dumped in his backyard

Mr Sew Ramdeen says that a public plea he has issued to the local municipality has been ignored once again. The pensioner, who lives in Forderville’s Seventh Avenue, is not surprised, as he claims that numerous calls for help over many years have also gone unheard.

Seventh Avenue litter problem escalates

Mr Ramdeen’s backyard has become a dumping ground.

Domestic waste from a neighbouring street, not disposed of properly, lies strewn in his yard. The onus now lies on Mr Ramdeen to regularly pick up the mess.

He highlighted this via an article in the Estcourt News early this month (November), expressing his disgust at having to clean up the waste and requesting that the relevant department from Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality visit the area.

These concerns were forwarded to the municipality’s communication department on November 1 and again on November 11, but there has been no response as yet.

“I’ve kept something that blew into my yard aside for them to see if they ever come,” said Mr Ramdeen.
