Vryheid’s crime in brief

The suspect tried to hide the drugs beneath his rear.

. On November 23, members of the Vryheid Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) arrested a 36-year-old suspect for the possession of drugs.

CPU members were patrolling the CBD when they spotted a suspicious vehicle. Upon stopping and searching the vehicle, the suspect tried to hide drugs (cat) beneath his legs and rear. The drugs have an estimated street value of R7 000.
· On November 21, the Melmoth Regional Court found 34-year-old Zamokuhle Mboniseni Qwabe guilty on two counts. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison on count one – conspiracy to commit murder and a life term count two – murder.

The recovered drugs have a street value of around R7 000.
