Resident takes a proactive step to patch potholes

There seems to be no repair in sight, on the part of the municipality, for the growing potholes in Estcourt

The growing pothole problem in Estcourt has forced some residents to take repairs into their own hands.
Mr Bhiki was recently photographed repairing potholes in Forderville.

The resident who submitted the photo to the Estcourt News labelled Mr Bhiki as a “Good Samaritan”.

In the wake of the recent rain, existing potholes have widened and deepened.

In other areas, new road damage is popping up. Recently, Inkosi Langalibalele Municipal Manager Patrick Mkhize said that the pothole patching programme planned for residential and central business district roads had been delayed, but would be back on track in November.

“Potholes were delayed due to the generator and jack hammer being repaired and awaiting payment, but the programme started on November 5,” said Mr Mkhize.
