Protests continue in Dannhauser over lack of water

The service delivery protests have continued for more than a week.

Service delivery protests are continuing in the Dannhauser municipal area, over the lack of water.

This morning, protest action saw the road to the Magdalena Mine closed by rubble placed on the road surface by protesters. Last week, there were similar incidents in the Madakane area of Dannhauser. The road to Magdalena is currently being cleared.

Amajuba Municipality, which is responsible for the supply of water to the area, said in a statement to the Courier:

“The leadership from Amajuba DM and Dannhauser Local Municipality are on the way to meet the community and they will be sharing with the community the challenges faced. There are also plans to supply water through water tankers while the municipality is dealing with the challenge.”
