Shopper pops the question in the aisle
An ecstatic Buhle concluded by saying she would never forget Valentine's Day 2020.
Buhle Mazibuko got the shock of her life when her husband-to-be, Themba Mbatha proposed to her while shopping at Charlies SuperSpar on Valentine’s Day.
Buhle and Themba have been dating for eight years but he had not mentioned anything about a wedding when they both walked into the store on Friday morning.
“I was very shocked when Themba proposed in front of customers, especially because we are both very private people. Themba told me he was inspired by Lucky Mathambo’s romantic music – Lucky had been hired to serenade customers on Valentine Day – and said it gave him the courage to go on one knee and pop the question, and I said ‘yes’.”
An ecstatic Buhle concluded by saying she would never forget Valentine’s Day 2020 and looked forward to becoming Mrs Mbatha. Charl Malherbe, of Charlies SuperSpar, said the proposal was a wonderful gesture and made everyone’s day.
“It was lovely. We made sure the proposal was one they would never forget, by ensuring they were made to feel special by our staff.”
