Custom jewellery winner walks away gleaming

One lucky reader has won a customised piece of handmade jewellery.

The study of gemology might not be everyone’s first choice after high school, but for young jeweller, Phiwokuhle Ngwenya (26), the science behind the course intrigued her.

Phiwokuhle, born and bred in Osizweni, attended Thubelihle High School. After leaving school, pursued studies in gemology. She is now a jewellery designer and is currently doing her internship at Akapo Jewels in Johannesburg, while also focusing on her company, P_creations, which makes customised jewellery pieces.

The Newcastle Advertiser held a competition on January 25, where one lucky reader stood a chance win a customised piece of handmade jewellery, designed and crafted by Phiwokuhle.

Congratulations to our lucky winner and reader, Zandile Mkhulise.

Our lucky reader is Zandile Mkhulise, who answered our competition question correctly:

‘Which well-known SA fashion designer has Phiwokuhle collaborated with?’

The answer was David Tlale.
