Selfless Samaritan on a quest to ease hunger

With a high rate of unemployment in the area, and many unable to afford basic needs such as food, a Good Samaritan in Vryheid, Linda van Berg has taken the burden of feeding the hungry on her own shoulders.
From her own pocket, van Berg buys and cooks food to feed those in need, and hopes to start a ‘brigade’ to assist with her endeavour to fight hunger one person at a time.

“I prepare the food every night in my kitchen, so I can go out in the morning and feed the hungry. I do this and do not expect anything in return; I just do it from the goodness of my heart and I will continue doing it until my last breath. I have all the time in world to do it and it is what God has called me to do,” said van Berg.
She has begun receiving support from residents and has called on others who wish to ease the plight of the hungry to help with this fulfilling journey.
