Some roads in Ladysmith have been closed by protesters this morning (March 9).
The ongoing protest action in Ladysmith is aimed at getting Mayor Vincent Madlala to step down. This after numerous complaints against the mayor.
At the moment, Protea Drive, the four-way stop along the Pieters road and other roads in the Pieters Industrial Area have been blocked with rocks.

Taxis are currently not running in and around town, with many people walking to work.
It is believed that protesters have also threatened businesses in the Pieters Industrial Area, telling employees to close up and go home.
Police and Public Safety officers are monitoring the affected areas.
