#SiegeofLadysmith2020 – Roads blocked and trucks on fire…
Taxis are not operating today

Roads are being blocked by protesters, according to scattered reports. We will keep you updated as we know more. Currently, we can confirm that the road is blocked past the army camp, but the bypass is still open. The N11 is still open at this time and so is the Bergville road.
Trucks were set alight along the Colenso / Pieters road last night.
The Pieters Industrial Area is considered a ‘no-go zone’!
The R103 to Colenso is closed, as protesters at Roosboom have shut it down.
While not confirmed, it is expected that schools will close like they did yesterday (March 9).
We can also confirm that no water is being pumped at the Ezakeni pump station, and parts of Ladysmith and Ezakheni are without water.
Taxis are not operating today (March 10) at all and employers should expect a low staff turnout due to the protest.
The protesters have demanded the removal of Mayor Vincent Madlala.

We can also confirm that the MEC for Transport, Community Safety & Liaison in KwaZulu-Natal, Muntukayise Bhekuyise Ntuli, is on his way to Ladysmith.
PLEASE NOTE: The situation is fluid. Things could change in seconds. Roads we say are open may be closed by the time you read this. We will have regular Facebook Lives updating you our readers as things develop.
