Case of murdered teen postponed to April

The case was postponed again, while the court awaits cell phone records.

Bongumusa Mncube, who stands accused of killing Cebisile Buthelezi, appeared briefly in the Glencoe Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning. A small number of Sithembile residents, including members of the Buthelezi family, gathered in the gallery.

The case was postponed to April 19, as the court is still awaiting cell phone records. Magistrate Mazibuko also revealed the Glencoe Magistrate’s Court can no longer proceed with this case as it involves murder.

Once the investigation has been finalised, the case will go to either the Regional or High Court. However, the accused will appear once again once a decision is made by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

In addition, Magistrate Mazibuko also mentioned the docket had been taken to the DPP in the High Court, for a decision of which court the case will be heard in.

15-year-old Cebisile was reported missing by family members, after she refused to attend school and moved in with her boyfriend. According to sources, her body was dismembered and burned, with her remains found in different locations.

This included shallow graves on Damman Farm, in the vicinity of Donald McHardy Dam.
