Video: #SiegeofLadysmith2020 Town taxi rank resembles a ghost town

Taxi ranks throughout the town remain deserted

The Ladysmith CBD is relatively quiet, with few businesses, daring to open today. As for the informal sector who are reliant on the taxi industry to provide them with customers, these areas at the taxi ranks truly resemble ghost towns…

Absolutely nothing is moving at the ranks.

The Roosboom Road on the R103 was closed this morning, but has since been opened. The Driefontien Road however, remains closed. Other roads are reported as open, including the N11 to Newcastle and the Helpmekaar Road to the Pieters Industrial Area.

However, people working in the Industrial area have described the area as eerily quiet!
