Water restrictions return after two-day reprieve

Load-shedding is reportedly to blame for day-time restrictions of local water supply.

Residents’ joyous celebrations at news that water restrictions had been lifted during the daytime, have been cut short.

Yesterday, water supply was once again cut during the day, leaving many understandably confused. Umzinyathi District Municipality’s Nomonde Nzimakwe confirmed the water restrictions were implemented during the day again due to load-shedding.

“Load-shedding has a huge impact on our water supply volume. It means that out of 24 hours, we experience power outages for about six and a half hours as we are currently on Stage 4. As a result, we have to implement daytime water shedding once again,” she said.
