Innovation reaps rewards for the Amajuba District

The district was recognised for effort and creativity in the implementation of EPWP.

Amajuba District Municipality came out tops at the Kamoso Awards on March 10, claiming the award for Best Innovative Programme: All Sectors. The municipality was also runner-up in the category Excellence in the implementation of the Expanded Public Works Programme.

The Kamoso Awards were hosted in Ballito by Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni, the MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works.

The awards seek to acknowledge EPWP as a ‘key Government programme’ aimed at improving the general socio-economic conditions of all South Africans, and serves as a platform to recognise municipalities, provinces, departments, public entities and individuals who have excelled in implementing EPWP in the preceding year.

The awards are further intended to maximise awareness of the EPWP concept, coupled with showcasing excellence in its implementation thereof.
