MEC launches Covid-19 screening in Sibongile

Members of the Dundee Mosque and Madressa Trust provided food parcels to families in need.

Screening for the Covid-19 virus got underway in Sibongile this morning, with MEC and Umzinyathi District Champion, Hlengiwe Mavimbela overseeing the monitoring along with Endumeni Mayor, Sduduzo Mdluli and Umzinyathi Mayor, Petros Ngubane and other district councillors.

The roll-out is part of President, Cyril Ramaphosa’s promise to respond to the coronavirus pandemic through mass screening and testing. Screening is done with a questionnaire to establish whether people exhibit any symptoms of Covid-19, and those who show symptoms and meet the case definition are the subjected to virus testing.

Members of the Dundee Mosque and Madressa Trust were also present to hand over 150 food parcels to the most vulnerable in the area, who have been badly affected under the lockdown conditions.
