Power outage cuts off water to Dannhauser

"Water reservoirs... need at least 40 to 50 [per cent] to allow them to pump water back into the community's taps."

Dannhauser will experience water interruptions today (April 16), after a power failure reportedly caused problems with water pumps in the area.

Sibonelo Cebekhulo, Director of Communications for the Amajuba District Municipality, explained that following the power outage, water could not be pumped normally at the reservoirs.

“Water reservoirs are currently at about 30 per cent, and we need at least 40 to 50 [per cent] to allow them to pump water back into the community’s taps.”

He added some areas were also experiencing low water pressure. Water tankers had been arranged for dispatched to the affected areas, Cebekhulu continued, apologising to residents for the inconvenience caused.

“Water will be restored once the water levels have picked up at the reservoir.”
