Givers reach out with gifts for the needy

In total, 182 hampers were distributed on the day

The Gift of the Givers Estcourt team set out to Okhahlamba Local Municipality recently, where they visited five areas in two towns.

“We visited the towns of Bergville and Winterton, and the areas covered were Potchini, Nokopela, Emmaus, Ngoba and Khetani. This was part of our Covid- 19 disaster response and hunger alleviation food parcel project,” said Gift of the Givers Estcourt representative Jaaved Khan.

150 large food parcels and detergent packs were handed out to residents.

“The majority were elderly people, with some being child-headed homes and people with disabilities. We were assisted by the speaker of the municipality, Cllr Sthembiso Zulu. We were also joined by Mayor Mlungisi Ndlangisa. The municipality and recipients were extremely grateful for the generous donation,” added Mr Khan.

Gift of the Givers Estcourt also visited Mahhashini in Wembezi.

“There are temporary structures where 32 families reside. Each family has just one room. They all received large food parcels and detergent packs. They were extremely grateful for the food parcel in this time of need and sent lots of blessings to the team,” said Mr Khan.
