While in lockdown, learners can continue receiving assistance with their studies to ensure that they stay up-to-date.
Local tutor Ngcebo Mkhize – together with Siyabonga Zulu, Siphiwosethu Tshabalala and Mongezi Shange – have dedicated their time to helping Grade 12 learners with Mathematics, Life Sciences, Physical Science and English free-of-charge via Facebook Live.
“Due to the lockdown and restrictions on physical meetings, I came up with an e-learning programme. Then I asked other people to come and assist. Our sessions started on April 16. They can be streamed live on Facebook, on my timeline Ngcebo Mkhize. For now, we offer Mathematics, Physical Science, Life Sciences and English. We hope to get more educators to come on board if they are willing to do so. Our programme is not funded by any organisation or institution, so therefore we need people who can assist free of charge,” said Ngcebo, who piloted The War Room Each One, Teach One programme aimed at assisting students from Grade 1 to 12.
Ngcebo also said they have a WhatsApp Learning platform on 073-229-8212 for Mathematics, Physical Science and Life Sciences, targeted only at Grade 11 and 12.

“The War Room Each One, Teach One programme started in 2016. For primary school students, we help with daily homework given to them at their respective schools; and for the secondary level, our focus is on Mathematics, Physical Science, Accounting and English,” he added.
Siyabonga Zulu offers Life Sciences lessons, Siphiwosethu Tshabalala offers Mathematics and Physical Science lessons, Ngcebo Mkhize offers English lessons, and Mongezi Shange offers Mathematics for Grade 7, 8 and 9. The live sessions can be followed on Ngcobo’s Facebook: Ngcebo Mkhize. Anyone is able to access the sessions without being a ‘friend’. Details on the next live sessions are available on his Facebook as well.
