Dogs ‘savage’ teacher’s car

The dogs are believed to be so-called hunting dogs

A school teacher was left distraught after three dogs attacked and damaged his new VW Polo.
Zamakhuhle Makatini, who teaches at Dundee Junior and who stays at the school hostel, on Excelsior Lane is still trying to trace the owners of the dogs that came onto the school property on the night of April 15.

The dogs, one of which appears to be a pitbull, were caught on the school’s security cameras.
The dogs upset refuse bins before biting and scratching the Polo which colleagues said Mr Makathini had ‘barely driven’. The bumper was damaged, the bodywork scratched and the badge torn off.

Those in the area believe these are the same dogs that had earlier killed a calf in a nearby field.

They suspect the dogs are chained up during the day and used for illegal hunting at night.

Friends of Mr Makatini’s have asked the SPCA to assist in tracing the dogs so he can claim damages.
Up until, no one has come forward claiming to be the owners. Anyone able to assist can call Cheryl on 083 730 4533.

The VW Polo suffered thousands of Rands of damage at the jaws of the three dogs.
